ABOUT THE ROLE

 

Role: Videographer & Editor

Reports To: Sophie Skipper, Managing Director

HOURS: 32 hours’ p/week – opportunities to increase

Part-Time, Permanent

SALARY: £21,000 per year, pro-rata

Other Benefits: Other benefits include a fully funded Commercial Drone license for the successful candidate

 

Full clean driving license required – will be required to drive to shoots/meetings

 

Job Overview

 

Sophie Skipper Photography Ltd is a fast-growing company offering visual content for brands/businesses. Sophie Skipper, Managing Director, has been growing this successful and innovative start-up since 2016, and is now looking to further expand her team.

The candidate will be a creative, energetic and highly driven individual looking to immerse themselves within a fun and evolving start-up! This role will involve working on a range of projects for our commercial clients, such as professional video-blogs, interviews, adverts and promos. The successful candidate will have direct contact with clients and will be involved in the creative process from start to finish. It is a highly varied role, with a flexible work environment and opportunities to work within a fast-growing, creative and vibrant business.

The successful candidate will work primarily from the SSP studio in Colchester Town Centre, however will also be expected to travel to shoots, sometimes with other SSP team members and sometimes solo. There will be numerous occasions where the candidate will be working alone at the SSP studio, therefore must be highly reliable and trustworthy.

 

A general day at SSP could include:

 

  • Videoing anything from an interview with a client, a creative product video or a how-to tutorial, either on location or in our Essex-based studio!
  • Creating storyboards, planning shoots and liaising directly with clients.
  • Editing the footage captured to create short, punchy and vibrant video-content for our clients!
  • Planning and creation of media with the creative team.
  • A once-a-month ‘SSP Test Day’ where the team head to a larger studio to practice new skills, test-shoot for brands we admire and simply have FUN, no client pressure, just pure creativity ALL day!
  • Team meetings planning/discussing the future and goals of the business
  • Lots of laughs, plenty of podcasts and the occasional dominos lunch!

 

Requirements of the role:

 

  • An excellent knowledge of Premiere Pro, colour-grading and audio production
  • Excellent knowledge of DSLR/Mirrorless/Production cameras
  • A beautiful SHOWREEL!
  • An ability to tell a story, create a narrative and understand a brief/storyboard
  • Have excellent organisational skills
  • Be an effective and conscientious communicator
  • Confident & dynamic personality, able to self manage and think outside the box
  • Strong creative outlook
  • Fun & engaging to be around
  • Full clean drivers license – ESSENTIAL!

 

Other requirements, not essential:

University qualification in video production or similar.

Knowledge of after effect & motion graphics.

Job Overview

Sophie Skipper Photography Ltd is a fast-growing company offering visual content for brands/businesses. Sophie Skipper, Managing Director, has been growing this successful and innovative start-up since 2016, and is now looking to launch a new in-house service and further expand her team with a part-time graphic designer.

The candidate will be a creative, energetic and highly driven individual looking to immerse themselves within a fun and evolving start-up! This role will involve creating engaging and inspiring designs for our commercial clients and on occasion our own marketing purposes. The successful candidate will have direct contact with clients and will be involved in the creative process from start to finish. They will also work closely with our in-house Marketing Manager on client projects and to help further evolve the SSP brand/marketing.

 It is a highly varied role, with a flexible work environment and opportunities to work within a fast-growing, creative and vibrant business.

 The successful candidate will join a current team of 4 people and will work primarily from the SSP studio in Colchester Town Centre, however will on occasion be expected to attend client meetings and shoots.

 

A general day at SSP could include:

  • Producing ‘high resolution’ print-ready artwork for product brochures, leaflets, magazine advertisements, external signage etc.
  • Create PDF artwork for product collateral to be used in online and digital distribution
  • Create graphics for use on social media platforms, such as Facebook or Instagram
  • A once-a-month ‘SSP Test Day’ where the team head to a larger studio to practice new skills, test-shoot for brands we admire, discuss future plans/goals for the company and simply have FUN, no client pressure, just pure creativity ALL day!
  • Team meetings planning/discussing the future and goals of the business
  • Lots of laughs, plenty of podcasts and the occasional dominos lunch!

 

Requirements of the role:

  • Excellent use of design software (specifically, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and to a lesser extent – Illustrator)
  • Ability to produce a portfolio of previous design work
  • Diploma or Higher Education (preferred)
  • Able to work to deadlines and manage workload
  • Have excellent organisational skills
  • Be an effective and conscientious communicator 
  • Confident and dynamic personality, able to self-manage and think outside the box
  • Strong creative outlook.
  • Fun and engaging to be around.
  • Full clean driver’s license

Other requirements, not essential:

  • University qualification in graphic design or similar.
